THE NIGHT BEFORE EXAMINATION

The night before examination is the most terrible for a student. It is a night of life and death for him especially when he or she is facing board exams. He is all alone in his room, he thinks over the questions likely to be set in the examination. He scans pages of the book to ensure that he has revised all topics. The books are all scattered in the room, he picks up one and leave the other. Notes are consulted.

The mind is in tension, he feels neither hungry nor thirsty. Sleep becomes the thing of the past. All his attention rests on tomorrow, the day of examination. Even at dead of night he is after important questions to be revised again and again. Parents make up now and then to find him busy in his studies. This is what the students like but parents detests.

They rebuke them for keeping awake late hours. The student begs of their pardon but keep studying. This is the lot of the students. They will remain restless such nights as long as there are examinations. It is not only examinations for the students but this involves the parents as well, as they also become restless along with the students.

CHANGING MOODS

Mood swings are not surprising or unusual and affect all of us from time to time, making us shrewish and quarrelsome. Science tells that our body chemistry is at the root of such moods for whenever we have a vexing experience that hurts the image we have of ourselves. The brain secretes certain substances that gear up for a fight and make us respond in explosive ways to very ordinary situations.

Chronically angry and hostile people are more prone to heart disease. A little change in our thinking can work wonders in controlling our moods. If such mood swings are caused by factors outside control, can we do anything about them? This can be done only by our own selves when we are able to detect at an earlier stage. We can have full control over our physical and mental system, we can go for professional help only if it necessary.
