Skin Maturation

The older skin requires more moisture and nourishment. It is drier, flakier and more prone to pigmentation. Dark patches of varying shades and flat brown spots, called lentigos, which look like large freckles are common on aged facial skin. This is the result of exposure to the sun, genetic factors and skin maturation. It can be treated and removed easily by a qualified dermatologist with a light application of an electric current, chemical peeling agents or liquid nitrogen.

Sagging skin, wrinkles and thinning, are, however, difficult to remedy without the intervention of a plastic surgeon. Injections of collagen can also show dramatic results but these are not permanent and need to be repeated.
