If you want to be on the most invited list, then there are a few things you must keep in mind. You will have to be a good guest or else, you will be struck off the list. Blackballing guests is the latest sport on the scene. Make sure you arrive at a house party at a reasonable time – neither too early nor when the hostess is about to retire. If you must take the kids along, make sure they know that the party is off-limits for a tantrum. If junior is the type, who will insist on wiping his paws on the damask, let him stay at home.
Pay the hosts some genuine compliments but don’t go overboard – it just gets too boring and insincere. Wear something trendy but if it’s going to be a skin show and your hosts think it’s a distraction, they won’t take you in next time even in a veil. Never compete with the hostess and don’t even dream of asking her if her gown isn’t little tight around her waist. No rows and drama please. Make only the right kind of noises.
Even if the host is dishy, don’t flirt. The hostess will not only forget about your existence, you might find a reputation preceding you. Keep your hands off the pen collection and the interesting biographies. Once back home, send some gracious thank yous.
